I'm in Australia NSW, around Sydney. Was wondering where the closest repair zone is, and phone number I want to call.

Specifically.. I don't really want to send my unit in, but possibly get them to send me a replacement screen.

I'm nearing the end of my warranty and thought it best to get me a new screen since mine has those damn thunder bugs underneath the LCD.

Anyone know the closest area? ;x

Sorry, didn't spend a lot of time browsing the ASUS Australia website, but if you're interested, suggest taking a look there under the 'Service' section at the link below under the customer service area for the customer service/support phone number and service locations.

Below is the link for the phone numbers after you click on 'Call Us'.

Not really sure what they will say about sending out an LCD, but expect they may be concerned something may go wrong if they send it to you, so you might need to try to find a way to convince them it will be okay.

Otherwise, if there is a location you can drop by, maybe you can either ask them to watch you replace the LCD at their location, or ask if you can wait for them to fix it and watch them replace the LCD. May not really be possible, but thought I would just run it by you anyway.

Good luck!

cl-Albert you're the best. :3

Thank you so much for helping me out, I was going to PM you initially but didn't want to flood your mailbox wailing for help. >x3

I just cannot manage having my lappy gone for months on end all because of a screen.

Edit by cl-Albert: Darnassus, glad I could be of some assistance and hope it works out okay.

How do you get bugs under the screen O_o?

The wonderful LCD screen is intelligently (retardedly) manufactured. The way it is built is through layers of sheet plastic that each have different properties, such as polarisers, filters, light spreaders and so forth. There's roughly 7-9 layers of this 'plastic sheeting' infront of the liquid crystal panel that creates the image shown on your screen.

ALL these layers are sandwiched together with an aluminium frame.. and that's basically it. Simply, the bug likes the light, goes in under the bezel, then the frame and inside the layers.. then crawls around with nothing for you to do.. other than squish it at the edge of the screen before it travels any deeper to the center.
