View Full Version : Does anyone know the sata speed of the 750JM optical drive?

I had ordered a new drive and one of those caddy so i could replace my optical drive but i cant find anywhere what revision the optical drive sata port is, so what im wondering if there something i could do to find out or if any of you guys know.

Edit: I have a 750JM

SATA is backwards compatible so the drive you ordered will work with any SATA version.

yes i read about that but im assuming that it wont run full speed if its not sata III but i cant find that spec anywhere

Optical drives are very slow. Original SATA is 1.5Gbps and way faster than any optical drive. Your drive may only be SATA I compatible and it won't matter.

Sorry, are we talking about an SSD in the optical bay? I think I misunderstood you. In that case I'm not sure what SATA version but you aren't going to be able to change the speed anyway so does it matter? It's still going to be very fast and I would still buy a SATA III SSD in case you ever want to use it in anything else.

I use caddy with g750jw, and there is sata 2(sata 300)
