Hello guys! I think you already know the problem, which is "fps drops/lag spikes" in games. Has anyone got the fix for this problem? Now I'm trying to play Skyrim, clean, but i can't, I have constant fps drops. Should I Asus GPU Tweak?

PS: I think it's impossible but I've noticed that if I try to play a game, plugged in and High performance and if the battery is under 40% I get fps drops, or if I play without battery it's like playing "plugged in (high performance) under 40% battery.

Oook, done! Launched Skyrim, first 5 secs of the gameplay were over 60fps, than brutally lowered to ~20fps constant.
Update: I've tried CS:GO and with resolution 1280x960, on High settings, I can't get over 50fps. (just between 20 and 50).

Lets try How the GPU is working !
Download GPU-Z or Nvidia Inspector .... Run 1 of them to see the Graphic card rate Values.
Run Skyrim on Windowed Mode and tell me how"s the Core clock running & Temp & GPU Load

Game was running ok 60 fps, but sometimes a lag spike, and then dropped to 10-20 fps i think, and the core clock remains 105MHz
Should I use GPU Tweak?

To me it seems that GPU starts to throttle at that temperature, but I cant be sure since dont have the laptop. Anyway you could try downloading MSI Afterburner and check, if your GPU core clocks are being reduced after you reach certain temperature ingame.

To do this just download MSI Afterburner first.
Then you need to setup it so it shows values ingame.
Check this screenshot - http://s17.postimg.org/5jilnz73j/msiafter.jpg . Up there in the graphs section you can check what will be displayed ingame when you play. Be sure you check "Show in On-Screen Display" so it will be displayed.
You should enable these values (should be from up to bottom) - GPU Temp/GPU usage/Core clock/Memory clock/Memory usage/Framerate/Ram usage/Cpu temperature/Cpu usage.

After doing this, open the next "On screen display" panel and change binds for toggling the afterburner on/off ingame, if you would like to.

Point is that you should be watching your GPU Core clocks during gameplay, and see, if they are being lowered when you reach certain temperature or when the FPS spike happens.

Ok I'll do what you said but first I'll tell you what's happening:

First of all, when I use latest nVIDIA driver, I must say that almost all the time the games are running nice, but if I'm under 40% battery and plugged in, I have fps drops. I have the laptop for like 6 weeks. I've been playing hours and not even a drop, but it has moments I don't know.

Second, I've installed the version 347.52, and the gameplay is awful, I enter in Skyrim, all good, Ultra High, 60fps+ etc, and after 10sec let's say fps drops to 10-20 and stay there, and the temperature is 65-70max.
Now, I'm gonna install again the latest driver, and make a 3Dmark test, then I'll try Afterburner.
If I can't solve the problem, I'll write 5 pages of this story and send it with the laptop to service. 1100 euros and have problems playing...

Are these temperatures too high?

These temps are normal , Be aware all GPU running fine between 50C-85C Above 90C may cause a damages .... Your problem is bit strange ,because i fixed it since long period by removing latest nvidia driver and installing one from official asustek website .... Try changing some intel HD 3D settings .

Hello Guys,

so i buyed a new GL771JW-T7098H (GeForce 960m), expecting a good gaming notebook, as it's advertised to be.
I installed win 10, antivir and CCcleaner, geforce-experience to install the latest drivers and wanted to test the laptop with gta V and some HoTs.
The problem is, the games start lagging / rubber banding and stuttering extremely right after i start a game.
I continued to pursue the problem while playing hots (heroes of the storm if you don't know, moba, not too demanding graphic, i thought). Graphics where set via optimiziation from geforce experience.
I found several threads in this board where the gpu temperature was mentiones as a problem. I tried following the fixes in this thread (https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?74094-Asus-ROG-G771JW-FPS-Jumps/page2) without avail.

Now my question: how can it be, that a gaming laptop of such a brand is not even capable of support HotS on LOWEST settings? Even on low the game stutters.

I logged the gpu via GPU - Z (the fartest i can go with my very basic knowledge).

Here's the file: http://www.file-upload.net/download-11073315/GPU-ZSensorLog.txt.html

I saw that there a solutions mentioned in this thread where installing an old version of the driver was advised. The oldest drivers available on the nvidia-page are version 352.63.

Before i send my laptop back tomorrow to the seller:

do you have any advice for me? I really would like to keep the laptop, and not have the hassle of searching for a new one. i would really like to buy another ROG of simila speccs - do i have to expect the same problems?

Thanks in advance guys!

From your GPU-Z logs i notice throttle around 76C.

I assume you don't have the latest BIOS update, so maybe you should update the bios and retest.

Gracias
