I've been thinking of buying a G751 for gaming because it has a Thunderbolt port and I'd like to use my Apple Thunderbolt Display if possible.

I've done a ton of searching here and elsewhere and have seen tons of mixed information on whether or not it will work properly.

Some say that it will work but you can't use discrete graphics, is this correct? I've seen a few people say that it worked fine, others who say you need to use Lucid Virtu MVP.

Has anyone had any experience with getting this to work?

The short answer is no. I personally hate macs and when one of our new hires brought in the 27 inch apple display i knew it wasnt going to work but hours later wasted only to find that only certain macs had the power on protocals among other requirements to use the thunderbolt display and the g751 would never be able to. We got rid of him and his mac monitor shortly thereafter. Apple didnt make it compatible and instead used specific protocals to block it from being used by other thunderbolt machines. Not really surprising that is what apple always does with hardware. There might be a situation or adapter out there that might make it work but we didnt find one.

I have the ASUS ROG G751JT and an Apple Thunderbolt Display. It works fine for me. No issues what-so-ever.
