View Full Version : Do any G501JW models have 2 RAM slots?

I was looking at potential buying an ASUS ROG G501JW.

Link below to Playtech's item in New Zealand

I want to buy and stock laptop and then add a M.2 SSD and potentially add some more RAM.

I noticed that some sites in New Zealand have a max 12gb RAM model and others have a max 16gb RAM model. All laptops start with 8gb already.

I enquired about the 16gb model and was told that there was only 1 RAM slot, which I thought was the case and would require 16gb for the 1 slot.

Somewhere else I enquired, the 16gb model would require 2 x 8gb of memory so do some models have 2 slots? They all seem to be same model number.

If anyone could shed some light on this, that would be great.

Welcome to the forums!

Hope it's okay to refer you to the thread below which eerily appears to be identical to your post (the link in your post doesn't appear to be current though), but the answer is no, there are not any G501JW with 2 (upgradeable) RAM slots.

As far as the ASUS model numbers go, the 'full model' names will be longer like G501JW-xxxx where 'xxxx' will be other alphanumeric characters to indicate a specific configuration, so if you only see the 'G501JW' model specified by the store, it's not enough information to tell you the configuration like cpu, memory, hard drive, Windows version, etc.
Stores should always be specifying the 'full model names' on their websites though.

Hope this makes sense.
