Hi All,

I wanted to buy the G551VW-FW149T, at the last minute I had to pull out because I found out these laptops (and discovered later that all ASUS laptops) don't have Windows 7 Driver support.

Is there going to be any official Windows 7 drivers released for the Asus laptop range? If not is there a way to get the drivers for the individual components used directly form the manufacturer?

I need this laptop for work and play, but the most important and critical thing is work, and for work I need Windows 7, I'm a PABX specialist and some of the applications I use only work on Win7.

If I can't use Windows 7 I'll have to go to a different manufacturers laptop such as a Toshiba.

Thanks for the help.

Can't you use virtual machine running win7 for work ?
do you need win 7 because of the 16bit support ? -> which again, virtual machine will provide.

Asus won't release any "old" driver if it's in the market with later OS - IN THE SPECIFIC PRODUCT SUPPORT PAGE...
Nevertheless, you can search in asus support site individual drivers, and can choose the OS for that driver.
in the long run - it will be better to upgrade to a newer OS ( 8.1/10 ) if you want gaming to be as best as it can on the same asus laptop model.

I think in that case, the general quate is true that "do not combine private life with work".... if you want gaming lap, for current generation games - don't use win7. <- period.
