View Full Version : G752VL Speaker Popping Problem

12-31-2015, 03:39 AM
As of a few days ago, I have been an owner of a G752VL-BHI7N32. For the first couple of days, everything was perfect, and I had no complaints. But as of yesterday, my laptop's speakers have been expressing some odd behavior. The speakers have frequently been making a popping noise, similar to the sound your lips will make when they are closed tightly and you blow air through them, or similar to the pop noise you hear on your headphones when you plug the jack into the port. This seems to happen right before a program will make a sound, or exactly when the sound is made, and it will also occur randomly when nothing is being done whatsoever. I would like to know whether or not other owners of the same laptop have been experiencing something similar. In another thread, an owner of a similar model in the same product line seemed to report a similar problem, but his or hers sounded more severe. The best thing to do would be to exchange this unit for another, but I would like so see whether or not the issue is inevitable.

Had 3 g751jy's, every single one of them had the issue you described. These days, I don't even care about the issue anymore, as it only occurs when sound card enters/exits standby mode.

There is a very long thread detailing this issue on the G751 (search for 'G751 noise,' you'll find it). As Corporal said, it's your sound card entering and exiting the standby mode. This issue has sort of been resolved by a new set of drivers, but you have to disable Power Management in the Windows registry. Basically you'll hear a pop the first time you play a sound after booting the system and again as you power it down instead of before and after every sound. You can get these drivers in the thread which I mentioned.

It is not a hardware issue. Returning the product will not accomplish anything. To prove this, just uninstall the Realtek HD Audio driver and let Windows use the default one. There will be no crackle. Removing the Realtek drivers will eliminate the popping sound, but I personally think the option detailed above is the better one. Keep in mind however that it's a fix for the G751, I can't guarantee anything for the G752 (even if they're basically the same). I also am still on Windows 8.

U would think after a year of the G571 Release , there would be no Audio Issues on either a G751 or the Asus Flag Ship G752. One Other Little issue I have With Asus. The G752 -VY-DH78K {Demo Model} was on Display in the IFA Berlin Trade Show In September 2015 and CES 2015 and again at CES 2016 But Still Unavailable For Sale. Whats Taking so Long. I Had Audio POP on My G30AB Tower it eventually went away , No driver update installed , still use the original G30AB Audio Driver.
I Use the Audio Driver From The Asus G11-CB Tower On MY Asus G751, with no issues. I had to replace the G751 Motherboard as the Graphic Card Was Faulty I was not going to fix the G751 but could not wait any longer for the
G752-VY-DH78K , release , ill give away the G751 to someone in need when I buy the G752-DH78K
G752-VY-DH78K now Available Jan/12/2016

I have been saving to buy a laptop for study but I prefer ROG due to its high-end specs. I am so grateful to receive it from you if you are serious :)

I have not experienced this with the G751 or the G752 just so its out there that this is NOT present in every machine as some would like to present it. Like anything else you have to take it with a grain of salt as complaints always fly faster than compliments. If anything my only perception of shortcomings with the sound in the G752 is that its weak, especially when compared to the G751. If I want to listen to something where it makes a difference Im using either ear buds or a Bose soundlink III BT speaker.
The G752VY DH78K is available for sale at multiple outlets. Problem is they are flying off the shelves faster than they can be produced.

Same here on my G752VT :/
The problem is that is was without any problem for few months. And not all of the sudden I have this poping sound.
Main problem is that any sound I play is nothing but silence except this poping sounds. But when I put headphones, the sound is normal in the headphones.
If I eject them, then sounds from speakers are again constant poping sounds.

my g752 does that popping sound also when sound card goes to standby mode or by exiting standby....

My next gaming laptop wont be Asus, it'll definitely be MSI..MSI is enthusiast with all components including SD card reader, sound card, speakers...you can see dedication everywhere..
however Asus, using cheap components and definitely copying old issues to new ones...
speakers on G752 is a bad joke! i could not imagine worse sounding machine....
