Hi. I have a G46VW that should have a backlit keyboard. Everything else works (all FN keys work) except backlit keyboard.

I have tried various ATK drivers (VER100027, VER100040, VER100041)

Various KBfilter drivers.

I have updated the bios and even downgraded the bios (205, 209, 210).

I have tried all the various fixes but still nothing.

I did read that if the keyboard flickers on boot that its working and its a software issue. My keyboard does NOT flicker at all.

Any ideas? any connectors that could be loose? or does it look like the keyboard needs replacing?

Thanks

The lights are on a separate cable in my laptop so it could be a loose connection.

Thanks. Will take a look.

Do you happen to remember what the cable looked like?

It looks like that, You have a large 40 pin fcc that connects from the motherboard to a daughterboard that controls your power button, touchpad, touchpad buttons, keyboard and backlight. The orangish cable that is going off to the right in the picture is the backlight fcc.

As for why it's not working, your guess is as good as mine. More than likely you have a poor connection from the motherboard to the backlight fcc. That main 40 pin fcc is not friendly and can easily be damaged. I'd advise you to be very careful if you decide to take the palmrest assembly off your g46.

Thanks for the info.

I checked all the cables and reseated them. Still no back light.

Guess next step is to replace the keyboard/backlight.

If anyone has another idea im open to it.

Thanks

Anyone know where to buy the small board that all the cables go into. I have replaced the keyboard (Know good backlight) and still nothing.

May be that board.

Thanks
