That 500 MB recovery partition that comes with a new system, can it be accessed at boot time ? Or is it meant to be used by the Windows 10' Settings / Recovery options ...

Look again Asus should have a 16 GB partition that would be your F9 recovery partition? You should be able to find all the details in you owners manual?

It is a g762vt, it only came with a 500 MB recovery partition, 260 MB UEFI Partition and another for the Windows 10 installation . The user manual directs to Windows' 10s recovery options in Settings so I figure that is what they are using for recovery ...

OIC, in that case See this tutorial in the ten forum (http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4130-reset-windows-10-a.html) You will have to download all your hardware drivers from Asus Support Downloads (http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en&type=1)

Easy actually. You just need to create recovery media like a USB drive.
In the search bar type create recovery drive then selct it and when it opens make sure Back up system files to the recovery drive is selected and then select Next. Then Select the USB you have plugged in from the menu then click next then create. When its done you can delete your recovery partition if you want or just leave it in place. Put the USB away for the oh crap factor. You can then select the USB from the boot menu by hitting esc on POST if needed.

Takes a pretty good bit of time to make the recovery USB.
