I need a major help. I just a bought an used ASUS ROG G751 Series G751JT-CH71 from EBAY. WHen I opened the back of my laptop and was looking for a M2 slot and I do not find any male pin assembly. I have attached the pictures. I got this from EBAY and I amm really messed up. I have only 2 SATA and the M2 does not look right. Please advise if the guy who sold me the unit did yank it? It looks very strange.

Can please someone help me what is wrong here?

My guess is its not that he removed it, it was never there. If you open up the JL that this isnt even an option for you see the same thing, point is there but no connector.

Video review of G751JT-CH71, FF to 10:30 and you will see no M2 connector.

Then Ive seen others that showed it so its hard to discern. I cant tell very well from the pictures if it eas removed or just never there.

If you get a really close look and see evidence that it was removed which is not at all hard to do you can try and file an EBAY dispute. I know Ive put just a little more pressure on PCB connectors and had them snap off clean more than once over the years.

Maybe some other CH71 owners can chime in with what they have.

You may be right on money here. Some JT's have it and some do not. Samething goes for JY. Looks like the guy did not order for M2 SSD. It sucks. What would be the best SATA SSD connector that I can buy now? Samsung EVO? Can you please suggest some good SATA SSDs? BTW, what is the speed differences between SATA and M2 if I were to use it for VMWare purposes. Thanks

If your compairing it from say the Samsung 850 to 850 M.2 then no its the same speed. The 951 M.2 on the other hand is four times faster read/write

Best IMO is the Samsung 850pro (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_11/176-1748669-0365111?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=samsung+850+pro&sprefix=samsung+850%2Caps%2C122) ATM. You will need to put it on the same side that the missing connector is as the other side is sata II.

I got this laptop on ebay for 970 with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB HDD. The seller told me the empty bay supports M.2 and then I purchased the caddy and 256 GB M.2 SSD (Samsung 951) based on JT's suggestion. But when I opened the laptop upon getting it, it does not have the M.2 PCIe connector in the empty bay. It has only SATA connection. I have two choices

1) Return the laptop which the seller has agree to
2) Keep the laptop and put a SATA based SSD.

What should I do? Please advise. The laptop looks very clean and good.
