Just want to make sure that is it possible to get 1920x1080@144Hz on external monitor from the G501JW mini DisplayPort?

Only got 60Hz on a Benq XL2411Z monitor which is 144Hz but I think it was because I used an adapter to convert miniDP to DVI... (This monitor doesn't have DisplayPort) I learned from googling that you supposedly need a expensive "active" DVI adapter to go beyond the 60 Hz.
I'm getting a real DP equipped 144Hz monitor next.

Edit: Okay I think I'm definitely able to get 144Hz from mini DP. After some googling I found a guy whos done it with a ROG G751

Also I learned HDMI 1.4 would give 120 Hz on monitor (Thought it only gave 60) but I was already using the HDMI to watch 3D Blu-Rays on my TV from the G501, which works perfectly.

Edit2: Okay finally after 2 weeks wait I have a AOC G2460PQU monitor which has both DP and HDMI ports. I can happily confirm 144Hz mode is selectable when using DP but HDMI doesn't go above 60hz. I quess we aren't fully 1.4 or 1.4b equipped? Anyways I'll keep using the HDMI for my TV. The only gripe is this monitor is afflicted with a frame skipping bug common to this monitor, which I just learned about yesterday here: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3jlgny/new_monitor_144hz_looks_exactly_like_60hz_not/
And theres some crazy flicker too when scrolling web pages. However I'm seeing some incredibly good colors from this TN panel, I definitely want a working one. Moving forward with RMA request from AOC next..

Edit3: Wooohoo I has the perfect working AOC G2460PQU. 144hz mode is up and running fine with this laptop with 120hz and 100hz modes also available. They did a "software update" at AOC repair workshop to fix all of this, pretty cool.
A bit of eye hurt problem whit the brightness setting... This monitor seems to have a nasty PWM effect which causes headache and nausea. Need to keep the brightness at 100% and work the rest of the image settings from there. I have managed pretty well though.

Hi

I have the same notebook as you and I have a question. What was your resolution when you got 144 Hz? I want to buy a monitor and I just want to make sure that I can get 1920x1080 @ 144 Hz from the Mini DisplayPort ;)
