Hey man welcome. Im new here as well, and I actually got my recertified g73 from newegg. I was fortunate enough to basically have no real issues with mine. The laptop itself came with no damages, not even scratches and everything worked 100%. The only thing was a missing rubber feet but thats easily replaced. PLUS, Dragon Age was left in the optical drive so yea free game for me!

Anyway heres a tip. I wouldnt count on it being on stock on the 30th. I was waiting for it to be on stock on the 15th and it was randomly in stock on the 12th..and it lasted for 10 mins. I bought mine then. Ive been randomly checking that page out and i guarantee you they restock it randomly. Ive seen maybe 5-6 restocks in the past 10 days at the most random times and they last maybe 15mins on average. When i did check it out on the 15th (after buying mine on the 12th), i refreshed the page practically all day and not once was it in stock. Also that auto notify sucks..it notified me 10pm on the 15th lol

My advice is to just keep checking the page out and have your account info ready. Make a newegg account w/ your card info now so you dont waste precious time when it is actually in stock. Best of luck.

Nope sorry man not covered by ADW. :( SUcks for the both of us...but we are still covered by Neweggs warranty, but only for 90 days.

Anyway for the rubber feet I just went and got something similar to this from frys;
http://www.crazypc.com/products/laptop-lifts-5331.html

...and yes the stock rubber feet are crap. No real biggie though as the (powerful) fans are in the back of the laptop. I used my laptop strictly for gaming for about 2 weeks straight before i got the replacement rubber feet and i had no issues then. After 6-8 hours straight of playing (thanks BLops multiplayer..) the underside of the laptop remained relatively cool. Basically you dont have to worry about the heat build up underneath it. Just make sure the vent/fans arent blocked and you'll have no issues.

Just backed up like 200GB of my old pics music movies videos games etc... i got a free 500gb HDD! XD! and wow those rubber feet are pretty pricey just for rubber... i might as well just super glue some cut up old shoes and stick it under....... its so cold i use my external HDD for heat... its toasty

yup. exact same link. I still have it saved on my bookmarks and i check it once in a while..dont know why really lol just a habit i guess. Im gonna write a review in about a week or two.

also the rubber feet i bought cost $4.50 on Frys. Maybe a cheaper material than the one in the link i posted but its great..but as i said its really unnecessary.

Hehe i think its because you think the price will go down or you have a mysterious but serious mental condition that makes your click on your bookmarks.... (jk)

And also NOW that's something i'll buy the computer i have right now Satellite U305-S7432 the crappiest laptop you'll ever see missing screws missing plastic on the hinges no rubber feet and the wristarea is loose and the satellite light is broken... yeah i am now upgrading after i got this laptop for free and been using since i was like 11 years old now i am 14 as of 11/25/10 XD I will sell the G73 for a profit get more money then... buy the next G73 J((X)X = variable)) Ill have that laptop till the end of my High School years for sure i am in 8th ATM. I dont like the JH because there's no PCIe or USB 3.0 so its not future proof.... I being my self think you should sell it if you dont have money then wait for the next gen G73's or buy the G73JW with Usb3.0

Well personally i think the g73 will last a while..maybe 4-5 years. You can upgrade the following;
-Optical Drive
-HDD's
-Wifi Card
-CPU
-Memory (up to 16gb of RAM)
-LCD Screen

thats pretty impressive for a laptop as laptops have been known to be quickly outdated since you cant really upgrade. What does suck though is that you cannot upgrade from the 5870 gfx card...but right now, the card is a beast. The only games it cant run on ultra settings are Crysis and Metro...which are 2 games i personally dont care for. And those games came out a few years back....so that tells me that graphics havent been improving too much which will prolong the awesomeness of the 5870. The recertified stock specs are good enough for almost everything. Its more than capable for gaming and will be for years to come....to top it off, for $860, its a frikkin steal.

Where do you live? Did you get taxed? (only in california or anyother state that gets taxed) How much was shipping?

I think if you tried you can upgrade gpu but i am not sure it can come out though!

I live in north carolina. Shipping was like $14 or $16..i cant recall as I ordered other things as well. No tax btw. :)

im not 100% sure about the gpu upgrade but i highly doubt it. The first thing i'll be upgrading might be the optic drive...i could use some bluray. :)
