View Full Version : Cooling pad for G73SW-XT1 (need help)

According to my GPU temp monitor, under heavy load (playing RIFT and sometimes BF3), temperatures are reaching 85-90 degrees celcius. Room temperature is somewhere between 20 and 28 degrees (I really have no idea) and although it can drop when I turn the AC on, it doesn't seem to affect my GPU temperatures (even though it's aiming right at it from the other side of the room).

I've had bad experiences with laptops being damaged by overheating and I'm worried about losing this one over the same issue.

I've been looking at a few cooling pads and I've narrowed down my options to these two:

Cooler Master Notepal X2

Cooler Master Storm SF 19 with USB 2.0 (not the 3.0 one)

I read somehwere that the X2 probably wont do the job, and that I should go for the SF19. Is it really worth the money? How is the 3.0 different from the 2.0 regarding effectiveness? Any other suggestions? Am I being too paranoid about the high temps?

Between those two I would get the SF 19 .... I like the usb ports and like that it does not have the little legs that other one has that could be a weak point and have a tendancy to break.

I'm using this for my G 74 and i'm happy with that :)

Before you get a cooling pad, try to either take it apart or just blow some compressed air into the vents. You might just have a lot of dust buildup in the fins as I have seen many others across the net with the same issues and this was exactly the case. Hope it helps!
