Hello. I just received a new ASUS G73JW laptop, and I am surprised to find that a bracket for the spare hard drive was not included with this computer. Can I buy a bracket from ASUS? Or, if not, could someone please point me to a bracket that will fit this computer?

I've already been to the local MicroCenter store - they tell me the bracket is made specifically for ASUS computers.

Seriously...I can't believe a bracket didn't come pre-installed.

Thank you!

The ASUS eStore had these in stock a while back but are no longer listed, I recommend checking the site for when they might be restocked.
ASUS eStore for the G73JW is here: http://us.estore.asus.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=1628

Velcro or Hook and Loop tape will work well to secure your secondary hard drive.

Thank you, V2. I will keep an eye on that eStore!

Does anyone know what the asus manufacturer number is for the bracket to make it easier to search of it? I prefer not to have valcro and tape in my laptop if I can avoid it :)

I used a couple of expanding foam earplugs to keep my 2nd drive in, and they work just fine. No sense in buying a caddy with these bad boys installed!

Hi all. The link for the HDD caddy on eStore is http://us.estore.asus.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=3018
We ship to US and Canada. We sold out yesterday within one day of adding the caddy to the website. We will have more stock available in about 1 week. There is a feature on eStore called, "notify me when product is available", which does just that.

They magically became available for ordering this morning again... I did sign up for the 'notify me', it did and I ordered one.

Okay so I finaly got the dang thing from Europe after waiting 2 months and paying a premium for shipping, now I have 1 question. Where the heck do you get the screws from? When I bought 1 for my G72, it came with them.

I just got my caddy too and at $22.50+ shipping and no screws. What's up with that. Come on Asus! you guys can do better than that.

Mine arrived (ordered from the US eStore but shipped from the Canadian service location so no cross-border UPS fees). I got the screws free from a computer shop near me just for asking nicely.

I folded a 1 inch square of cardboard in half and put it under the far end of the SSD I added to my wife's A73. There is already a piece of foam supporting the front. I am surprised at the cost for the few I found. Over $50 for 10 cents worth of metal is ridiculous, as is not including them in the first place. And changing them for every model? Really? I bought a caddy for a G73 thinking it might interchange. No dice, glad it was cheap. Nothing on ebay even. Good thing a SSD doesn't move much. I have spent hours looking for the right part. Not worth more looking. Glad my ROG G750 came with dual drives so I don't have to worry about it. Thinking of upping my 128 Samsung PRO to a 480 GB OCZ
