When you turn the unit on are you at least able to see the Asus logo? Have you tried to see if you can get back into the BIOS? or are you simply getting a black screen?
I'm not sure if I'm understanding correctly but I'm assuming while plugged in the power mode will be different then when using battery. Although it should not make the unit hang or freeze.
