OR that they are 5600 and 5866 (6133) capable? Just seems very strange that all of the tech reviewers and tech news are staying so quiet about these kits. You'd think Der8auer or one of the YouTube overclockers would feature a video and spread the good word. Yea, I know DDR5 is almost here but it's still such a mystery.

The tech media isn't well known for covering overclocking well or in fact at all in most spaces, so when it comes to halo kits such as these there won't be much coverage. Roman is the only one that springs to mind that would be capable of covering memory in this way and these kits won't be sold in any real quantity. The boards and having a CPU that can achieve these things unconditionally makes it more of a niche, too. A really impressive one, though :D

Outstanding accomplishment - beyond amazing Sir Braegnok highly-acclaimed overclocking member of the castle of ROG. lol :p

Do you feel like you're really pushing your hardware or is it just another walk in the park? :D

Gskill sent Roman the 4000Mhz CL14 Trident Z Royal Elite kit and he called it "a very extreme memory kit" :D

Well yea, it is an extreme kit! I just wish Gskill would also send him the 5333Mhz 22CL kit, it comes in (5) various heatspreader variants, although I do believe inside they are all the SAME bin.

OR Asus ROG could send him the kit - oh heck I'll send Der8auer my kit for a quick video. :p

As long as he sends it back... ;)

The Hynix 5333MHz 2x8GB kit is good to go, I managed 5333 XMP, 5600, 5866, and 6133MHz stable with vary loose default timings,.. will pull modules and install copper heatsinks.

I will tune those profiles, tighten everything after flipping rig over to water cooling, the default timings are vary loose, with latency in the 50ns range,.. but all those profiles pass Karhu, MemTest86 and were simple plug & play install,.. vary solid micro code on Asus Z590 Apex.

Plan on testing the 4800C17 B-die kit tonight, will test default settings, XMP, than want to load [ gear 1 ] 3800MHz CL12 profile,.. pull kit and install copper heatshilds.

Should be ready to go when my active backplate arrives this week.

Maybe let the guys over at EVGA forum know your results...

Did they ever hit 5333Mhz XMP with their Z590 Dark boards? Or are they still awaiting a newer bios?

We can thank Shamino of ROG for the outstanding Hynix DJR high-speed tuning of the Z590 Apex bios - Shamino is Brilliant! :D

I thought about dropping by the EVGA forum once again, but I don't want to upset those guys, they are good people. :)

Did you notice the tracking # on the Newegg invoice, I posted on page one of this thread,.. lol

They are nice guys, but still waiting on solid microcode for gear 2 memory training/stability.

    +1 Shamino is Brilliant! :D

LOVE that EK part it's the best design I've ever seen from EK. You have good taste in hardware ROG brother! :)

I'm only running a simple air-cooled home office work build, but it's inaudible at sitting distance - only one fan cools the entire build, plus the GPU tuned into the inaudible range with software.

So why would I need an Aquaero 6? Lol, that's a carryover part from way back in 2015 when I was running (3) radiators (9) fans and an AquaComputer D5 water pump, still works like the 1st day I opened the box, so couldn't give it up...

    Z590 Epiphenomenal Rocket Bench:
Primochill WetBench SX Pro test bench
    Aquaero 6 LT fan controller
    Seasonic TX-700 fanless titanium
    11600K i5 SP79 5.5Ghz capable
    Maximus XIII Apex
    Gskill F4-4800C17D-16GTRS - Gskill F4-5333C22D-16GTES (shiny RAMs) :p :p
    WD_Black SN850 500GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD
AMD WX-4100 workstation card (Nvidia RTX A2000 coming soon)
    Noctua NH-P1 Passive/Active Cooler w/Noctua 2000rpm PWM industrial fan @800rpm
    Benchmark Scores: 5.5Ghz Single Thread Cinebench R15 - 268 CPUZ ST - 704

Maximus Z690 boards just went up!

Considering ONLY aesthetics, the Z690 Extreme Glacial is beautiful beyond belief! Maximus Z690 Extreme also gorgeous, Formula is in white this gen, and the Hero even looks extremely nice.

The Z690 Apex is the least aesthetically pleasing of the Maximus Z690 motherboards! So bummed... Didn't plan on buying Alder Lake anyway, but wow!

Cosmetic Improvement: Asus covered the battery

The (4) XOC boards from the other makers are all E-ATX, so was really hoping Asus would return the Apex to that form factor and apply some severe styling X-cuts into the PCB, instead the board is still ATX and the PCB cuts are "barely there" - even lost the very cool V-cut for the SATA ports with the illuminated insert from the Z590 Apex, gee, so sad at this moment.

They even moved the Bios select button to a less accessible location - I use that all the time to toggle between 5866Mhz CL21 no CPU overclock and 5600Mhz CL20 with 5.2Ghz CPU overclock profiles. :(

It does matter for next year, planning on a super Z790 Raptor Lake build and considering the same LGA1700 socket will be used, the Z790 Apex will most likely retain at least the same overall PCB, with probably only slight improvements in heatsinks.

The Z590 Apex is a much more beautiful motherboard, in my humble opinion.

Yes I know, Asus has to "product stack" the series so the more expensive boards at least appear to offer more - simply never believed Z690 Apex would look worse than Z590. :(
