So I created this topic to help answer questions regarding this product. So far early impressions, great screen, no dead pixels, some back light bleed on the top right and top left corners, and overclocks to 100hz without issues.
Edit: just a heads up, the scan line issue that Acer X34 monitors experience is present with this monitor as well, not surprised since they both use the same panel. However it doesn't bother me as its only noticeable against single solid colored backgrounds i.e. Blue skies and you also have to look for it to see it. Easy to loose them during actual gaming. Jus thought I would warn potential buyers who were holding off hoping this issue would be resolved.

Well that is very exciting! Did you have to perform any rituals at midnight with people dressed in cloaks and was there chanting?
Just kidding. What kinds of FPS are you getting on Tomb Raider with all settings maxed? What's your PC specs? Looks like I am seeing water cooling! -

Lol you have no idea! I was so happy I didn't see a single dead pixel I almost cried.
As for my PC, I got 3 Titan x's overclocked to 1443mhz on the gpu, memory is on stock clocks.
CPU is a 4930k overclocked to 4.5ghz
My fps is anywhere from high 90s to mid 40s depending on the area, in the beginning of the game fps is fine but later in certain areas the game has performance issues sadly many have brought it up on the steam community forums. I'm running everything on max with the exception of AA which is on FXAA. -

Okay!! Questions time:
Can you take a picture in the complete darkness with a black screen so that we can see the backlight bleed you do get?
Do you feel that the curve improves the monitor, makes it worse, or doesn't do anything?
I know you haven't had the monitor long, but I'd love to know how it performs under a long heavy gaming session. Can you let me know how it holds up after 8 hours of playing games? -
02-16-2016, 04:15 PMbajs1988
Give me a couple of days and I'll update you on how it handles long gaming sessions. As for the curve I honestly don't feel like it's a major difference or adds any advantage to gaming.
Here is a pic of the BLB with the lights in my room off its much less noticeable than what's shown in the picture I tried to get the exposure of the iPhone camera as close to what I am seeing in real life as possible.

Added an update to my first post regarding the scan lines seen on Predator X34 monitors.
-

Awesome! thanks for the updates! I look forward to seeing what happens after a long gaming session. The "overclocking" nature of the monitor @100hz worries me a little after many hours of gaming. The backlight bleed isn't bad, but it's still more than I would expect from a $1000 monitor. :(
I am not as familiar with the scan-lines issue so it looks like i'm gonna have to research that a bit more to find out what to expect. -

Just curious, but what is the actual height of the screen itself? As in, the actual viewing area, what's the size from the bottom edge of the actual screen itself, to the top edge?
-
02-18-2016, 04:27 AMKylis
It would probably be 13.39 inches according to http://www.silisoftware.com/tools/screen.php
-
02-18-2016, 08:52 PMbajs1988
Sorry for the late reply I did a quick measurement and that's close to what I got.
As for the screen holding steady in the overclock, been gaming for the last couple of days, long gaming sessions around 4-5 hours each and no issues with overclock stability at 100hz. -

Hey bajs1988,
Congratulations on your new monitor. I may not have questions at this time as they seem to be already answered.
But I'm watching your post closely and I'm sure many others are/will be watching as well. You,ll see by the views your post gets.
I'll be getting a new monitor myself before long and this monitor is one of a few I'm considering. Customer/owner reviews is what I'm counting on to make the best pick.
Please keep us posted on your experience with this awesome monitor. -

Cool! Where did you order it from? I don't see it listed on Amazon or Newegg - yet.
I got a PG278Q back in Nov of 2014 for my new computer rig. It's been awesome for gaming! Especially with upgrading from a Dell 24" 1080p monitor that was 5-8 years old. I've been thinking about eventually upgrading to a bigger and better monitor. Philips 4065UC 40" 4k was one I was considering. Or maybe this one. -

Congrats on the new monitor! I'm extremely jealous, I definitely should look into getting one as it looks really amazing.

Sweet jesus, $1,555. I sure hope that doesn't indicate the price it will be sold in the US. Though from the videos I have seen of people already getting them the QC looks good. Frankly if they price it the exact same as the X34 they could make up for the fact that they are later to market.

It is a great monitor I have been waiting for it ever since it was announced. At the time I had a LG 21:9 monitor. Recently however most of the latest games lacked support for multi gpus and it was a struggle to keep 60fps with a single gpu at the highest settings. I had to compromise and go with the Asus PG279Q.
Honestly right now gsync is now one of the most essential technologies to own when it comes to PC gaming. The PG348Q just hit the sweet spot and combined 21:9 and Gsync with a badass looking monitor.
To make this short, great monitor definitely worth the wait lol. -

I don't mean any disrespect so please don't take any, I am curious as to how you may have gotten your hands on this monitor when it isn't even released yet, just curious,.....okay scratch that, I went back through the thread and found where you said you bought it, I am jelous. Congrats btw its a beautifull display, looking forward to getting 1 or 2 of these

That looks like some bad BLB there. Do you have any pictures of it in a completely blackened room? I am disappointed to see that ASUS is still sending out defective panels to unsuspecting buyers. I was really looking forward to this panel but I just don't feel like playing the lottery.

02-28-2016, 01:54 PMbajs1988
It's hard to take a picture with a phone in complete darkness without it being over exposed or under exposed. It's not as bad as the pic and that room was pitch black at the time of the photo. But yeah there is still some BLB.
It sucks that BLB is an issue that is monitor buyers still have to deal with. All that matters to me though is that I don't see it during gameplay and I've played plenty of dark games like tomb raider, rogue Galaxy, etc. -

Hi guys !
A little light bleed is common with all IPS displays, you should only notice it in a dark room with a black background. -
02-29-2016, 12:07 AMmwe3302
This monitor is going to be amazing. I dont know when amazon is going to send these out to everyone that preordered including me , but am sure i will not be worrying about a miniscule amount of BLB. Just my .02

I was wondering if you could download everquest 2 and let me know if it supports the resolution , if you wouldnt mind please
-
03-03-2016, 04:44 PMjadedzero
I did a simple google search and it appears that EQ2 does support 21:9 at this resolution. You may need to download a custom mod to make the UI look better in 21:9.

Hey man
First thing is you got a sweet monitor man! I can't wait for the release and getting this bad boy. I currently have 2 PG278q's and still deciding how i should run this setup along side the 34". Are you running both monitors currently based on your pictures? One for desktop space and the wide screen for gaming i assume?
I may do what you do one 278q + 34" (when it comes out). Meanwhile moving the extra 278q to my wifes computer. Undecidied... first world problems. -
03-04-2016, 09:00 PMbajs1988
Yes I am currently running both monitors. I use the PG279Q for browsing because portrait mode browsing is perfect for almost all web pages. I also use it to monitor temperatures during gaming I have a Aida64 showing a sensor panel on that screen.
Also on the odd occasion you get a PC game that crashes where you are stuck on that black screen of nothingness where your computer is responding but the game window refuses to close and is blocking everything including tad manager (PC gaming I know right?) it's easy to move the task manager to the second screen and get rid of the pesky application.
I know it's overkill to use a monitor like the PG279Q for such tasks but I'd rather not sell it on the off chance that there is a game I absolutely want to play but completely lacks 21:9 support, I just move things around and I can game on that instead of the PG348Q. (And yes I know you can play 16:9 games on a 21:9 monitor but this way I get a bigger size 16:9 area and I don't have to deal with annoying black bars).
Wow didn't realize this post would be this long lol. -

You are right man - I may do what another person just suggested. 278qs on both sides 34" in the middle, basically use the 278q's for desktop space and gaming when 21:9 is not supported as you have said. Since the 348q does not come out fast enough, I will live through you for now :) -

I like to know if it is possible to remove the stand? I don't like the stand because it takes a lot space on the desk. I would use third party mount stand.

The stand is removable however I'm not sure how you can use a a VESA mount on this. It was clip on you don't screw it on or anything like that. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...2805313d16.jpg
