    TIPS :

    If you want to manage the drivers (remove old/unused drivers for example) that you have in your Windows DriverStore
    Use Driver Store Explorer (Right click on "Rapr.exe" > Run as administrator).

    If you want better interrupts delivery latency
    Enable MSI (Message Signaled-based Interrupts) mode on all your supported devices (see the column "supported modes") with
    MSI Mode Utility (Right click on "MSI_Mode_Utility_v3.exe" > Run as administrator).

    If you experience crackling, popping, audio stutter
    Disable hibernation (Fast Startup included).

    Help! I had everything working before the recent update to SS3. I just tried to update my Audio drivers following the instructions above but I keep getting the following error:

    "Install RealTEK Audio Driver Failure !!
    [Error Code : 0x00000152]"

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for replying MoKiChu! I didn't expect an answer so fast! You are just as awesome as everyone has said on these forums!

    I'm on Windows x64 1909 (Edu, as you said a version of enterprise) Build 18363.778 while it has the Store disabled by default but it can be enabled. I had already enabled access to the MS Store and it's when the MS Store updated Sonic Studio earlier this week(or last week) that I lost access to Sonic Studio with my previous drivers. That's why I tried updating my drivers with the package above to get Sonic studio working again... not sure what went wrong...I couldnt find info on error 0x00000152 anywhere. Which is when I posted my cry for help! :)

    I was able to get back up and running with the 8666 driver package on the z390-e webpage( I thought that was a UAD driver isnt it?) with about 3 hrs of work last night. I don't have anymore time to work on these issues this week ( I teach and it's FINALS week! ) but I'll see what I can do when things calm down...

    Thanks again!

    When i ran SS3 i got an error that either the hardware was not supported or the drivers were not installed correctly. After updating the drivers manually via Device Manager/Have disk option, SS3 worked fine. So if anyone else has a similar error message with SS3 or SR3 after installing the package, try the above suggestion by updating the drivers via DM and choose the "Have disk" option and point it to the unzipped drivers [e.g., "C:/Realtek UAD generic v6.0.8924.1\Win64\Realtek\Codec_8924.1\HDXASUS.inf ". Do not choose the "HDXASUSTC.inf" file for a Z390 mobo, it is not the correct inf file for the ALC1220 audio chip, It's for hardware ID "10EC&DEV_1168".

    Thanks for the update MoKiChU.

    Did anyone manage to get the Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer working? I'm trying to set up a fast and easy NVidia ShadowPlay recording gameplay. I've added Modern Warfare to the audio stream but it can't pick up any of the ingame sound (even when I switch to the manual mixer manually) :)

    Thank you very much for your contribution that helped me a lot. however i have a short question my friend. when i open the sonic studio 3 and go to the record studio tab to activate the direct monitor and acoustic echo cancellation, the function does not stay activated. so if i close the program and open it again, the information is lost, do you have the same problem?

    Hi.
    I have an ROG Strix X570-E gaming mobo. I just can't get the drivers to work. If I remove everything and just let Windows install basic drivers, the audio works. But as soon as I try installing proper drivers no sound comes out of my speakers at all. I can see the audio meters go up and dow with the sounds but nothing from the speakers. I've done everything exactly as it is in your steps (ROG SS3, not sure if it's the correct one) twice and one attempt for ROG/PRIME/TUF and nothing works. I am at a loss. Can you help? Thanks.

    Hi,

    HDA Drivers are for Windows 7 & Windows 10 1709/RS3/16299.x or more recent
    UAD Drivers are only for Windows 10 64 bit 1709/RS3/16299.x or more recent (1903/19H1/18362.x or more recent for some Third Party drivers)

    HDA Drivers use Win32/Legacy apps (including Realtek HD Audio Manager)
    UAD Drivers use UWP apps downloaded from Microsoft Store (including Realtek Audio Control/Console)

    HDA Drivers have a tray icon (possibility to disable it)
    UAD Drivers don't have a tray icon (without possibility to enable it)

    Glossary :

    HDA = High Definition Audio
    HDA (Realtek) = Standard (NVIDIA) = Legacy (Microsoft & Intel)

    UAD = Universal Audio Driver
    UAD (Realtek) = DCH (NVIDIA & Intel now) = DCHU (Microsoft) = UWD (Microsoft & Intel before)

    DCH/DCHU = Declarative Componentized Hardware Support Apps Universal API compliance

    UWD = Universal Windows Driver.

    Thank you for this information good sir. I would leave this explaination on your post for realtek drivers. Just my opinion, for noobs like me.

    Again thank you.

    Wow, this seems like nightmare compared to usual driver updates. I'm in awe of you MoKiChU for figuring all this out!

    I'll take a snapshot of my install before attempting, just to be safe. Seems like this resets and then is base for new Realtek going forward so only gotta go through the initial driver wiping/cleaning once, right? Then free to update as new releases are discovered and posted here by MoKiChU?

    But before I do... so what exactly is new or improved compared to the 6.0.1.8666 driver and Sonic software from Asus? Some place I could see screenshots? I'm a dork so I just want the latest and greatest driver for anything, regardless of whether I actually need it or not. But this ain't no simple setup.exe or device mgr driver update.

    I did a system restore point and a full image to be safe, but no need. Process went 100% smooth by simply following your step by step. Now I'm freed from the Asus SS3 leash, thanks!

    Two questions:

    1) What the heck is the Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer? I added just b/c it was there thinking it was another UWP app but now see it's actually additional device in Speakers and Recording devices. What does it do and when would someone use it?

    2) Is this the master thread to subscribe to in order to get informed of future SS3 updates?

    Thanks again for all the hard work simplified to easy to follow steps!

    Roger. I'll do the full uninstall cleanup again for next release since I like running a tight ship and don't need the virtual mixer.

    Extra thanks for introducing me to Driver Store Explorer, I've been wanting easy way to clean out my 10 year old drivers when my current install started off as a Win7 laptop, now a z390 desktop.

    My motherboard is ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS.
    Which are the correct drivers for it? Are the last ones, for RTK motherboards?

    Thank you again!

    Is there a way to set the Bass crossover frequency?
    Hey Mockichu, glad you are back you legend. I wanted to know is there a way to set the bass crossover frequency (the frequency used by the Bass management toggle) in the UAD drivers? If there is, how would one go about setting this? The toggle works in the UAD drivers, plus the ones you have posted, i just want to know what frequency it uses so that i can fiddle with it for my setup.

    From the research i have done, HDA drivers have this functionality and can be "hacked" in the registry editor, but many have the same question on the UAD drivers (people are usually pointed to use the HDA drivers but then you are forces to use outdated versions of sonic studio and sonic radar).

    Sorry, I can't advise you an action on your registry or any other "hack" way to configure your cut off frequency for UAD drivers.

    However be aware that, If you install/use Sonic Studio III, know that the equalizer of Realtek Audio Control/Console is hidden and deported on Sonic Studio III (Basic Mode > Equalizer > Custom).

    Hey, thanks for the prompt response and the information

    First time updating and it worked like a charm. Did a Get Updates in Windows Store and got new Realtek CP. Awesome. One thing I immediately noticed is that the Amplify Level in Realtek CP now only applies to the front speakers in my quadraphonic setup. Setting back down to Performance equalizes the front/rear sound levels.

    Here's a dumb question: "SS3" stands for Sonic Studio 3, right? My board prior to STRIX Z390-F was a Asus Pro Gaming Z170 which only had CP, no SS. Was there as SS2 at some point? And I notice that this thread applies to new Z490 boards. Is SS3 tied to the Realtek codec chip? Is there a SS4 out there or not until there's a codec chip newer than S1220 (I think)?
