OC3D: Asus Maximus VIII Extreme Skylake 1151 8 Extreme DDR4

Not a review,just an in depth introduction (up close and personal). The M8E is a beautiful mobo.

I am probably going to use 2 750 series from intel (1.2TB each). Along with a dual SLI config (not sure on the graphics cards yet). Will I be able to get the maximum performance from the SSDs (given there is no software limitation) if I use the two bottom PCIe x16 lanes? or should I get one of them in the PCIe type, and plug it on the 3rd slot, and then get the other one in the 2.5in model and plug it on the m.2 port? Could someone explain the difference between the PCIe lane that goes through the CPU and the other one (4th x16 lane) that goes through PCH? Thanks

You should start a new thread regarding this subject instead of burying it this thread.

you will get more response from the members like skunk and Korth.

But it is the bandwidth for the different lanes like

PCIe Gen 2 (500MBps per lane)

PCIe Gen 3 (1GBps per lane)

x4 PCIe 2.0 provides 2GBps of bandwidth
