Cool thanks man. As it was said in the movie Independence Day " I GOTTA GET ME ONE OF DEEZZZ" haha :)

Already looking at the IN-WIN 926 case for it (Again delivery problems though I fear). I had a tough time between the intel 905p vs Samsung 970 pro's myself. There are 2 main difference between the memory architectures for those drives. the Intel does super great on lots of small file sizes while 970 pro was better mid to larger files. There is several youtube comparisons and benching done between the 2 drives. just do 905p vs 970 pro and you can see them. I do similar things you do including hosting. I have been doing it since 1995 :) but I was born in a young man "sometime" before that :).

Thanks for sharing your experience. Water Loop is something I haven't done yet. Never needed to and AIO has always done well for me. I will want to change that for this build and probably can't find an AIO for that xeon :)

    Anyway thanks again.

PS the benches do look bad at all but I understand your passion.

Given the Asus Dominus Extreme has 4x U.2 connectors I think I am going to replace the Samsung drives with 3x Intel Optane SSD 905P Series (960GB 2.5" PCIe x 4 3D XPoint). The reason 3x instead of 4x is I do not want to share a PCIe lane with my GPU. I suspect the 3x Intel 905p drives will bring my drive performance back in line with my expectations. I thought I would give the latest Samsung SSDs a chance but they were disappointing. It is at low queue depth the Intel SSDs shine and since I mainly run 1-2 VMs at a time my queue depth isn't very high. I prefer M.2 SSDs (due to package size and no cables) but Intel doesn't have the density on their Optane M.2 sticks that I need in 3 sticks yet. The good side of using the U.2 SSDs is heat the M.2 SSDs get super hot and the U.2 seem to get less hot. The bad side of the U.2 drives is more cables 2x per drive one data and one power (well not sure here maybe the U.2 port powers the drive so only 1x extra cable but its a big cable from the picture on Intel's site).

    Attachment 80030

I have the Optane 900P 480GB as an AIC and two Optane 900p 280GB as U.2 drives. The U.2 drives hoover around 25C whereas the PCI-e counterpart sits close to 50Celsius. Of course the proximity to the GPU plays a part but the U.2 drives are cool. The only downside is that the R6E only gives me 1 U.2 port.
