In case anyone is interested, 9298 is really well balanced.
From the highs, crisp tss tss tss(not sloppy shh shh shh) high hats, to the punch, thump and bump of bass and subwoofer.
I find that the mids, where the vocals generally are, really good on this driver though:-)

When I test new drivers I do it with all effects and EQ turned off, and compare it to HDMI from my graphics card.
Sound settings posting won't help, because I use different settings in SS3 depending on what I watch or listen to.(music, talking Videos, movies and so on).

    lost some settings in 6.0.9298.1?
Hey, first off big thanks for maintaining this thread and drivers, I've been using this for years now.

This update seems to have caused an old setting I used to use to disappear. I used to be able to monitor both the line in and the microphone inputs in real-time with zero latency, it clearly wasn't even going through windows because other programs wouldn't pick it up, it was just like a direct raw monitor kind of thing.

Anyway, for whatever reason that is gone now and I'm wondering if I've messed something up, this is intentional because it's an edge case feature that most don't use, or something else.

Anyway, for now I'm just going to revert to the previous version so no worries.

Here is a screenshot with what I'm talking about:

I got that same issue when I tried to install older drivers to fix the issue I was having with the newest. try using the clean-up instructions and remove all realtek, avolute, nahimic, etc. entries from your driver store with the force deletion method, reboot, and then try installing again.

Edit: probably was a different issue, but when in doubt a clean install is never a bad idea so long as you know how to do that without generating more problems for yourself.

edit 2: NVM I was right the first time it is exactly what happens if there's no newer driver to install, haha

    Hi,

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC408x codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS MB) from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Realtek USB Audio (MB | Intel 5xx/6xx & AMD 5xx/6xx/TRX40).

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

    Hi,

This error is not an error strictly speaking, it just indicates that the driver is already present and installed (no new driver to install).

I have an Asus Z690 Hero with Realtek ALC4082. Which drivers am I supposed to use?

Based on other replies I figured "ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound". However after following instructions and removing all old components and installing those drivers, I still see a generic "Realtek USB 2.0 Audio" device in Device Manager, and trying to start the Realtek Audio Console just has spinning dots until it says "Can not connect to RPC service".

Unfortunately this and the last release seem to remove the monitoring capabilities of the driver. Is this just to be expected going forward or is it some kind of error I'm having?

    https://i.imgur.com/BGrz68Z.png

Unfortunately this method of monitoring is far superior to using it in windows/OBS/etc. as it has no latency and seems to happen at the analog audio routing level or something.

On a side note, is there any other asus/realtek utility we can use to tap into this motherboard level audio monitoring? I get that it's super niche, but it's so useful if you need it and would be enough to stop updating over for me personally.

Thanks in advance for any support with this issue and huge thanks for maintaining these driver threads over the years :)

Edit: for clarity, in the screenshot I linked, I mean that on the current release that section highlighted in the red box is simply not there

    Hello,
Since two days the effects of Sonic studio aren't working anymore. Until now I couldn't get them back. I already deinstalled and reinstalled the drivers and Sonic studio 3 - no success. Hope someone can help me with this. I am using Windows 11 - my Mainboard is X470-F Gaming.
My last choice wood be a new installation of Windows. But without knowing how to solve that problem it seem to be likely to run into this issue again.

Have you tried disabling and re-enabling the audio enhancements on the audio device, i know it sounds silly and that reinstalling would have fixed it, but that caught me out two driver releases ago. Do it in the realtek audio console, sound settings in the settings app and in the "more sound settings" options in the sound settings sections of settings app (they all do the same thing i just can't recall which one i specifically used).

    I hope it helps

Unfortunately it seems to have been removed, already tried the full clean-up and it's simply there on older drivers but not on the newer ones. It's a very niche feature so I'm not surprised, I just hope that it was done for an important reason and not just a careless shrug.

No complaints to Mokichu though, just for clarity. I get that Realtek makes these drivers and to be honest I have no idea where I'd even begin to leave a comment on a thing like this.

I'll eventually get an external audio interface that will render this obsolete, but it's a surprisingly killer feature to have directly on the motherboard for anyone getting into podcasting, streaming, etc. The older drivers work fine though and with something like audio it's not like a GPU driver where you can't necessarily just go without updates.

All in all, I wanted to make sure it was known and that I wasn't having a weird error on my end and to not just shrug and assume it gone only to find out that there was an easy fix had I only asked, you know?

    Cheers though, appreciate it :)

I got the ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING a couple of days ago and it's been working great. However, when I install the Realtek Drivers the audio from the front-panel speakers becomes noisy and starts crackling a lot, especially with short sounds such as notifications (Windows, Discord, etc); back-panel speakers seem to work fine. I tried installing the drivers in this thread but it still had the crackling sound, maybe I used the wrong one? Or maybe I missed changing some setting somewhere...

    Here are my specs:

    - MOBO: ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING
    - Front-panel plug type: unified speaker and mic
    - Case: Ncase M1 V6.1

The front-speaker seems to work fine when using the default Windows Driver (not Realtek).

Well I followed cleanup (uninstall) process and did the install, and the headphones work fine but nothing I do gets my Mic working. I did another cleanup and reinstalled the last set of drivers I know were good (8960.1) and same problem can hear, but Mic flat out doesn't work. Checked Mic's physical mute button, the realtek and windows mic settings, the windows privacy settings, tried in both front and rear connectors, even tried uninstalling the Sonic Studio apps and it just flat out won't work. And I know the Mic is good.

I assume there has to be some component from the newest drivers still lurking on the PC that's causing the problem. But I can't find it :(

edit: I did another full clean using the routine outlined in MoKiChU's post and reinstalled again and it's now working. I guess I missed something the last time somehow. But it's working so far.

    Surround sound issue
I have an Asus Prime Z690-P WIFI D4 motherboard. The system uses the optical output for audio, which is connected to a Sonos Beam Gen.2. The Beam is paired via WiFi with two surround speakers (Sonos One). Sound output from the motherboard works fine, except for the fact the the signal is stereo and cannot be pursuaded to output surround sound.

The Sonos setup by itself works fine and plays surround sound like a charm, except when my computer is the audio source. I am running the standard Realtek 6.0.9282.1 driver (no custom driver package from this thread). The Realtek Audio Control app is up to date. This is what I see when I try to select a multichannel audio output format:

    Attachment 92008

Evidently, there are only stereo output formats, nothing like 5.1 in any flavor. [edited] Any idea how I can resolve this issue?
