I will clarify this point which generates a lot of confusion for every ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards users.
All ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards without ALC408x codec that exist on the market today are Gen1 (Intel 4xx & AMD 5xx).
All ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards without ALC408x codec that will be released from today are Gen2 (Intel B660/H670 ...).
All ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound AMD TRX40 motherboards without ALC408x codec (USB) that exist on the market today are Gen1 (AMD TRX40).
All ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards with ALC408x codec (USB) that exist on the market today and that will be released from today are Gen2 (Intel Z590/Z690 & Last AMD X570 ...).
ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards Gen1 are Gen1 and Gen2 drivers compatible.
ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards Gen2 are only Gen2 drivers compatible.
ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards Gen1 (USB) are only Gen1 drivers compatible (to date).
ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboards Gen2 (USB) are only Gen2 drivers compatible.
So you may ask me why offer Gen1 and what is the point of installing Gen1 when Gen2 are backward compatible ? Because some people wants to get rid of all Third Party apps while having a working EQ in Realtek Audio Control via a workaround, which is not possible with Gen2 (only possible with SS3 motherboards without workaround or SS3-DTS motherboards Gen1 with workaround).
So to answer you simply, as long as you are not looking for something other than what is intended by ASUS (EQ in SS3 app), you can use the Gen2 drivers package (and it more optimal because it avoids SS3 APO & DTS APO conflicts).
Note : If you switch from Gen1 drivers package to Gen2 drivers package and vice versa, follow CLEANUP process.
