Intake fans are blowing directly on the ssd.
I you want to, check the location of M.2_2 slot on IX Formula motherboard - right in front of those fans.
The drive holds around 47-56 under small load.
I think that is pretty much all I can get.
At leat until that PCIe adapter arrives.
BTW, I'm planing to put the adapter into PCIe x4_3 slot at the bottom.
How do I make sure this port is x4? I'm I right? Cuz the drive is NVME PCIe3.0 x4.
Manual says it shares bandwith with PCIe x1_1. But x4_3 can run x4 only if x1_1 is disabled.

A little help, please. -

As an contribution to the discussion I can inform that my 960evo is getting 2 (two) temp reading-outs from HWinfo64:
1st.read out is in the low 30's - degree C - load or no load.
2nd. was reading from 32 C all the way up to the high 70's start 80's and this in Celsius. Which is TOO high for my liking !!
All this in a case with good and ample airflow. Cpu temps are never more than high 50's on a 4400Mhz OC and graphics card is max 66 C under extreme loads ie. AIDA64 + Heaven. Also I tried switching between top and bottom slot which made NO difference on a Maximus IX HERO (see my specs )
After browsing the web for days in search of an answer as to why I was getting two read outs in HWiNFO64 but only one through SMART in Samsung Magician, I was getting nowhere...
Finally I choose to mount a 120mm fan as close the SSD as I could. Just strapping an NF 12F to only and smaller drive cage i've installed in the R5 was ok (a little ghetto mod but works just fine). THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE!!
Now I'm see fair temps - sensor No.1 is always around low to mid 30's , as it was before. Sensor No.2 is now between 40 or 53 degrees C, depending on load since I connected my fan to a PWM header reading of the CPU.
But it's still weird that I can't find any info on what sensor is reading what... which would be nice to know. NAND "like" heat where as the controller is much more sensitive, as I understand it anyway. And Magician read-outs are always the same... despite having latest version app and firmware on the SSD !?
Good drive - garbage software :-P
P.S.
HWmonitor is also only giving me one temp reading the same for AIDA64 - the low one. What gives??
