So I got a new white Strix RTX 3070 v2. It's oriented traditionally (on a motherboard mounted to the inside -side of the case so the card's fans are facing the floor).

Everything is stock and as it came out of the box. I didn't install any additional rubber pads or thermal pads. There is no screw to secure the M.2 drive. There's a gray, plastic lock that rotates...

I don't recall seeing a "m.2 rubber" in the box. Do you have a picture of this? it seems like adding another layer above or below the drive might cause more bending.

I have only what came with the motherboard which is what is pre-applied to the heatsink.

I'll probably just swap it out with the 980 Pro. I have that came with a heatsink pre-installed directly...

Well, I guess this whole conversation was for nothing. I tried launching ROG Secure Erase today and it doesn't even see my XP941. It only sees the drives connected to the SATA ports.

I have other secure erase utilities. The point of this thread was to see if the built-in ROG secure erase would work with the XP941 (without bricking it).

Parted Magic was reported to have bricked XP941s. I haven't seen anyone try using the ROG secure erase on a XP941 yet.
