More like options. 1.280v is what CPU-Z and HWinfo are reading at max vcore (you can see it listed in HWinfo in previous screenshot). These are the UEFI options that get me there:

That seems to have fixed it. After setting Advanced > System Agent > Graphics Configuration > Primary Display to PCIE, and then installing the video card back in, it booted right up into the UEFI.

the new ASUS ROG STRIX X99 looks very attractive.

That kind of explains why adaptive mode does not work on an MSI board. The core and cache voltage modes are all one setting.

Full disclosure, I have a MSI X99 series motherboard and it very much looks like Adaptive Mode does not work when the CPU is overclocked. At least it didn't work with my board, and I can't get any...
