Optimus causes a bunch of problems with benchmarking. My work laptop has it, and it messes a bunch of things up if you try to get an accurate reading on the nVidia graphics performance.

For the nVidia, try downloading the driver from nVidia's website and installing that. The Ubuntu ones are usually quite out of date, so the nVidia ones have bug-fixes and feature enhancements that...

Try the nVidia drivers from nVidia's website. Those are pretty universal.
