if you have created a recovery media from asus tool, use it to restore the system to factory state. if you wish to copy everything including apps and settings from your old hdd to ssd, you can clone...

check the dram frequency from cpu-z (like the image you posted above). if it's lower than the current one, which is near 800MHz, it's downclocked. apparently it's a 1333MHz ram (PC3-10600S-9-10-F2)....

to answer your question, you can clone the stock hdd to ssd.

however, it's better to set a g55 up like this: 1 ssd for OS, games and apps (clean install or restore using recovery disks/usb). 1 ...

note that there are some variants of the elpida ram according to the datasheet. if it's of 1600MHz, then it's good (you can just put them in and see if they have downclocked the system).
