I'm thinking that the battery just can't push out enough current to run your notebook at 100% in some games no matter what power setting you choose.

Yes, also if you decide to not do a clean install, right away, you have to uninstall the drivers for your present wifi/bt adapter before you remove the card. If you don't you'll be unable to...

You have to be really careful when you buy an Asus notebook, apparently. There are so many different subspecies it's hard to know what you're getting until you open the box

No!!! Probably use the Realtek. Check in device manager when in doubt about what you have installed.

You also need to install the Intel BlueTooth for the 6230.

Any nVidia Verde notebook driver is supposed to work.

WHQL means Windows Hardware Quality Labs = tested for compatability and function on the devices the drivers support.
