Which motherboard, case and GPU do you have? Don't buy a new MB.

Ask you "near PC shop" what they meant. Ask if the motherboard or your case is the problem with it fitting.

2080 and 1080 Ti are about equal unless you intend to use RayTracing, then a 2080 Ti would be best. Without RT the 1080 Ti would be most cost effective.

Wow, I just installed the 399.24 set and I'll stay there at least until the new Hitman releases in November.

For OC'ing with temps and mfg support in mind I'd choose between ASUS & EVGA. ASUS cards run cooler and OC a little better (on avg.) but EVGA's rma procedure is great.
