Long shot, but I wonder if Notebook Fan Control could slow down the fans. You could try selecting the GL702VM profile within the app. Worth a shot, maybe.

Oops, my bad. I just assumed the 502 would be similar to the 702.

I believe you need to download the BIOS file to a USB stick and use the UEFI bios 'EZ Flash' utility to write it.

The fans idle at 1800-1900 RPM. I've seen people claiming they spin down but I've not found this to be the case. At least with my GL702VMK, anyway.

Im not positive, but I think the kaby lake refresh models have the Fan Boost option in ROG Gaming Center. Do you have the GL502VSK?

Key is to get the hot air out of the case. Sounds obvious but it's how I keep my GL702VMK in the high 60's (sometimes low 70's) under gaming load.

CPU undervolting using Intel XTU and possibly disabling Intel Turbo boost through the methods described in this forum. Although if they are stock temps at idle you may have a bigger issue.

This is pretty much my setup too, only I have the GL702VMK and am using GYSNC 75 hz/fps. Without the two opolars I'd get 77-80C too but with them I am around 70-72C.

My GL702VMK definitely runs hotter withOUT my two Opolar vacuums. Fact. Just FYI.

The Opolar does not fit perfectly but it does work. It drops my temps during gaming by approximately 6 degrees. It is the difference between 78/79C in PUBG or 72C (in my case). I have 3 other friends...
