The latest audio driver update (2017/04/27 update) seems to have fixed the issue for me.

Seeing similar issues on my Strix270G with headphones.

They responded back after 25 days with no solution (and without even reading the ticket it seems). I'll update this thread again if any solution is provided.

The drivers were last updated 2 months ago and have been broken the entire time. It's sad ASUS is ignoring this.

It did not fix the audio issues (huge volume changes and distortion on headphones) on my Strix 270G.

Just a heads up that the upgraded BIOS 0801 will not read a BIOS config saved to a USB profile from 0701. You will need to input all the settings again by hand.
