Here's the solution. Our system does have some legacy components, and that tend to sometimes mess up with the Fast Startup in Windows. I have turned it off in Bios, and had UEFI installed...

That's what i am on. Windows 8.1 Home. I downloaded from MS. Did a clean fresh install. Let Windows pick up all the drivers, and voila! The PC is back to life!
