Bios 1203 contains the old 7C(80) microcode of the processor that Intel withdrew, if you did not know then I tell you this. bios 1203 seriously reduces productivity.
Currently the recommended version of the microcode processor 0x84 for Kaby Lake/Coffee Lake and 0xC2 for Skylake
https://newsroom.intel.com/wp-conten...e-guidance.pdf
So, in any case, Asus will update all his bios, they have no other choice.
I have already updated myself, it's much faster to do it yourself than wait:

20 years back i only needed a HEX editor to fiddle with the Symbios ROMs in my beloved Asus P55T2P4
For the recent UEFI boards is a pretty bulletproof tool around called UBU with a great forum.
If you don't want to risk anything and have a recent board best bet is to wait for an official Asus UEFI that surely will come soon.
For my PRIME Z370-A the recent UEFI has the Spectre fix like all other recent Asus boards so no danger in waiting.
Nonetheless i subjetively feel the more recent microcode (84 for coffee lake) mostly fixed the hiccups i had. Still the pre-Spectre speed is gone.
Latest microcode even benches slightly better. See here https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...607#post706684

For work you will need this tool: https://www.win-raid.com/t154f16-Too...-quot-UBU.html
There is no performance loss with new microcodes, even with SSD.
upd. Asus is behind... Asrock has already begun to spread new bios http://www.asrock.com/support/index.asp?cat=BIOSLast edited by jjxakergm; 03-02-2018 at 02:18 PM.
