I got the P10589 score on my G74sx-bbk7, GTX 560m 2gb using beta driver 290.53, I have been using that driver since it was released with no problems.

OMG I want to cry and scream at the same time.

    I'm only scoring a P2132 3DMarks

WTH, how are people scoring into the 10,000 mark and my G74 is only scoring in the very very low 2,000 range?

Well, the thing that I'm noticing is that I think those with a higher score seem to be either running a different version of 3dmark, or maybe just the registered version because the result sheets are totally different on what seems to be listed.

It does make me wonder if I were running the full registered and payed for edition and running the same tests listed as the high rollers if I could score a little bit higher, but certainly couldn't make up for a 8,000+ difference in score.

It just doesn't make sense. Maybe I should oc my video card by 200mhz and see if that makes a difference as I see Ron's video card's speed is listed about 200mhz higher than mine is.

    I don't know 3dmark site says :
Overall Score P2160 Target Score: P2100
    Graphics ScoreP1936 Target Score: P1900
    Physics ScoreP6776 Target Score: P6000
    Combined ScoreP1877 Target Score: P1900

So, going by that, it would suggest that I'm on target with my hardware, but then that leaves me wondering why other peoples target score for their hardware is up there around 9000 or so, I'm guessing it has to do with the settings chosen for the benchmark tests, I can't think of anything else at this point.

Really frustrates me though, because I already don't think that this laptop has really earned the badge of a gaming laptop like ASUS promotes it.

Okay, found the difference. (DOH, even this topic is titled "3D Mark Vantage", don't know how I totally missed that and downloaded 3DMark 11 the first time round, DOH as Homer would have said)

Ron is running 3dmark vantage which runs different tests, and scores differently than 3DMark 11.

    In 3dmark vantage my G74 is scoring: P8757 3DMarks

Which while it's still lower, the 200MHz difference in video clock speed may account for at least a bit of that.

So, I guess it's pretty close, or close enough to what at least some folks are getting with 3dMark vantage, which means probably they are also getting the fps in games that are being played that are the same I would suppose.

on d 3d mark vantage seems ma CPU can't achieve the target value which is 17k plus while ma scored only 11k plus ==" i dunno wat's d reason 4 dis ==" hopefully someone could tell me sumthing~ *wonder*
but in game like dirt 3 with graphic settings on high and ultra if applicable, avrage fps i got in full hd 1920x1080 about 32-33fps
and since am using ThrottleStop, there's no throttle issue wif ma CPU so what can i say, ma beast still d best ^^

I am really having fun with this as it started out as a competition of sorts between a me and a friend he was always knocking my g74sx best buy version as not a real g74, he has the 1920x 1080 screen and 192 bit gtx560m but we sat down to play some different games together and my machine was much smoother playing games than his, but I have done a clean install all updated manufacturer drivers, I run throttle stop, quiet hd and advanced system care 5 active boost in the background allways..he refuses to change anything on his machine..anyway I just ran 3d mark 11 (p2662) to get a score from it as I already did with 3d mark vantage and on both test I overclocked the video card now I am going to go back and do it without overclock and see what I get. http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2642640

What program are you using to overclock your GPU Ron?

I am using nvidia inspector, I found it works better and has better stability than msi afterburner or gpu tweak from asus. Most games I don't need to overclock, actually crysis 2 is the only one I do and I have played it for hours clocked at 925/1850/1600 with no problems and my temps never get above about 67-68c. I just ran 3dmark 11 without overclock and got the same score. http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2643018
