i have an asus strix B350-f gaming motherbord.

i dowloaded this driver from the asus website:

it´s on the strix B350-F gaming driver website:

it´s an asmedia USB 3.1 driver (WHQL mhm.... wonder why it does not work then 🙂 ).

but when i want to install it all i get is a message that no valid controller is found.

what´s the problem here?

in the BIOS i have all USB ports enabled.

Have you checked your Device Manager to see if you have any unknown devices? It none appears then you probably already have the drivers and don't need to install them.

no all fine.

i want to update the driver. the ports are working and drivers are installed.

but when asus releases new drivers i guess it has a reason and i want to use the latest.
that older drivers are installed should not result in such an error message.

The drivers are just there for no reason. Because there are no ASMedia USB chips on the board. The Only ASMedia chips are ASM1480 and this is a 16 to 8 channel multiplexer / demultiplexer Switch for the PCIe lanes

i have not checked that on the B350-F to be honest. i only know that the crosshair 6 hero (my main system) has an asmedia USB crontroller so i assumed the drivers are there for a reason.

asus driver pages are a mess. 😞
also the version numbering often drives me nuts (newer versions with a lower version number).

The X370 Chipsets using an ASMedia USB Controller because they have more USB Ports. More than the build in from AMD can handle. The B350-F Using only the Build in AMD USB Controller what means that there are less USB Ports. Still enough for me tho
