Asus ROG G751JT M.2 ACHI or NVMe PCIe SSD options?

As I read the posts concerning the available M.2 ACHI SSD options as bootdrive for the ROG G751JT it seems that the only two options I have would be the Samsung SM951 or the older XP941, which are pretty expensive for a 500+ Gb. Are there any other options / brand / models that will work on the ROG 751JT that offer a better performance than a regular 2.5 SSD? Is there NVMe SSD that will work as a bootdrive without needing to mess up with BIOS? I have windows 8.1.

Thank you

I too have a JT model, and from what I can understand, there is no official BIOS that supports NVMe out the gate. The BIOS must be modified. I'm still learning as I'm attempting to install a Samsung 960 now.
