well its not available to me on a M.2 drive either

Why would that be ? Have a feeling some setting in the BIOS need to be changed. Does having UEFI and Legacy selected mean it treats the M.2 as legacy ?

Maybe a new topic for this would be good

Take a look under Disk Management and make sure the disk is GPT. I'm on my tablet and not my desktop, but I am pretty sure it tells you there. I can check later.

Actually it does. Go to Disk Management in Windows. Right-click on the volume in question. Select Properties and go to the Volumes tab. Look at the "partition style".

I doubt you were following my instructions, it always shows in Disk Management utility, you were likely using properties from Explorer instead.

But it makes no difference, you need to change it to GPT.

why ? is GPT that great an advantage especially when none of your drives are over 2 gig

Going to reinstall windows 10 on this PC and I guess getting it as GPT wont hurt

so seeing no replies to other thread.....whats the best way to install win10 and make the M.2 drive GPT ?

Boot to OS media drive, choose custom installation, when it asks which drive to install to delete all existing partitions, then click install on bare non-partitioned drive, Windows will partition your drive and install in UEFI mode (GPT), you can disable CSM or leave auto
Only have the drive you are installing the OS on connected until after windows is installed

I am pretty sure thats what I did when I set it up a few months ago and this was the result

should I not allow windows installation to makes these extra partitions ?

btw: unless you select the pic you wont see the 476MB partition at the end
