R6e with i9 7980xe delid first oc

Just finishing new build ( as per “my R6E build” thread)*
Did first Oc last night and was blown away by how low temps were .
, prior to deliding on kraken x62 *I had to keep Oc down to 3.9 ghz with temps in the 70 deg mark,
Since delid with Lm under ihs, plus full cover EKwb block and custom loop with Lm on ihs and block I dialled in 4.5 ghz Oc, result of benchmark below.
Gpu fans were linked with cpu temps, so I did have an issue there! But that can get sorted easily.
Temps *were staying around 40deg it seemed most of the time, with only the occasional spikes upward for about two seconds each time ( this is where the gpu loop fans ramped up).
Conclusion so far deliding was well worth doing considering I tried a 4.4 Oc before dL and had to stop realbench as temps shot straight up to 114deg ! So that in itself seems to show a significant drop in temps.

Those high-core-count CPUs have a lot of surface area, as you saw when delidding. With a good TIM, that area passes a lot of power with only little temperature rise. I'd say your results are about as expected for a good delidding job.
