    No.

I also enabled the intel rapid storage technology to see the available drives to create a raid - despite not being what I want to do, but even here the drive on the bottom m.2 slot does not apear!

Ignore the BIOS after you do a reset...dont do a CMOS just use BIOS to reset and then have only the one M.2 in the bottom and then boot with the Windows flash drive and hopefully that will see the drive and let you install Windows on it......

Just hope it works out for you mate

thanks for the help, but nothing works...

I can't seem to be able to get my motherboard to recognize my Samsung 960 pro m.2 drive when I place it on the bottom socket of my Asus Maximus hero X.

All is well when I place it on the top m,2 slot, where I can install windows on it, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to be able to get the bios to recognize it when it is placed on the bottom m.2 slot.

I tried everything that I could think about:

    Disabling CMS,

Switching the sata mode to intel rst instead of AHCI

    removing my vega graphics card

    resetting bios

    flashing bios

But no matter what I do, or which combinations of settings, I just can't get the m.2 drive to be recognized when it is connected to the bottom slot.

The strangest thing is that after resetting the bios, I get the message on the startup screen of the bios, saying that it detected an m.2 device on the m.2 slot, but after this, I can't seem to do anything else.

Can you help me in getting the bios to detect this drive?

I am asking this question because I wish to use two Samsung 960 pro m.2 drives with my motherboard. one for the OS and the other to be used as media storage.

I do not wish to create a raid array
