??? The updated microcode went out with version 1101

ROG Hero XIII | 10900k @5.2 GHz | g.skill 2x32GB 4200 CL18 | ROG Strix 2070S | EK Nucleus 360 Dark | 6TB SSD/nvme, 16TB external HDD | 2x 1440p | Vanatoo speakers with Klipsch sub | Fractal Meshify 2 case

I can't update to this bios, manually or automatically from bios itself.

Somehow it worked from usb drive.

it works fine on the Maximus X Code board using USB.

I guess Strix are behind. ;-( The Maximus all have updated microcode AFAIK.

Actually, just looked at the Asus page on this: https://www.asus.com/News/V5urzYAT6myCC1o2

According to it, your motherboard should have the microcode in BIOS 606 and beyond, and indeed that release says update CPU microcode.
Caveat: the same was true on a MSI board I have - MSI said that the fix was in a certain BIOS version, and the BIOS version listed a CPU microcode update, but it wasn't the correct microcode version and was unprotected. The January date for that Strix BIOS 606 seems too early for the final Intel microcode release. The best way to determine if you have the right BIOS and are protected is to run Inspectre.

all seemed to go well with the BIOS update 1301 here. I usually use the USB flashback port on the I/O panel but this time I went within the BIOS and used ez flash utility. However right after the update I had to do a system recovery because Windows didn't shut down correctly, and the usual startup repair kept failing. I'm not suggesting this was due to the new BIOS, for I am sure it was due to testing a bug in Windows 10 with large page file usage and 7zip.

See https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/e730c709/

for more info and if you want to help to get Microsoft patch this bug.
