I see no reason not to update. There is always risk but those risks are minor and limited to small groups of users. Risk usually comes from stability and compatibility improvements that are added to help a small number that have issues with specific components but then have unintended consequences for others that were working normally. In that case, those that had normal operation had no reason to update and thus a void argument. In this case there are security benefits that outweigh the limited rare risk and tiny synthetic but intangible performance decreases.

I'm on 3401 and it's rock solid, I did try later bios's than this but they messed about with OC config.

I always end up reverting back to 3401 bios. I don't notice slow downs with 'newer' bios's but I do get some erratic fan control ramping up for no apparent reason.

Off topic, but I don't suppose you'd share your voltage setting to get 4.7?

Yes this bios has been completely trouble free for me, i'm at 1.325 v for 4.7 with - adaptive v of 0.006 been like this for over a year now.

Update: scrub that it still has the same cpu micro code update as specified on this web page https://www.asus.com/News/V5urzYAT6myCC1o2 asus saying to use 3802, I won't be installing this bios or any future bios's until they put the performance back to what it should be.
Just tried to revert from 3802 to yours 3401. didn't noticed any perfomance boost, just wasted time.

    I recently required a VIII Hero for my 6700K - 4x8 Vengeance LPX 3000 - RX480 - Corsair RM650x sytem
    Bios was flashed to 3802

After playing around with overclocking, I've been having some issues with the GPU - For now the GPU is out until I see what the rest can achieve.
Can't find to much info on 3401 - 3703 - 3802 bios versions. But I've tried flashing it back to 3401, as it seems to be a stable bios with my "old" hardware.

I'd really like some input from a longtime VIII Hero owner with close to the same specs.
I switched from a Z170 Pro Gaming which had no trouble running everything at "any" settings, so I'm surpriced that this MB turned out to be so tricky for me.

As always this is hard to explain xD

Firstly I don't have to many issues while the GPU is out.
    Issues such as:
    - Getting both my CMK16GX4MB3000CL kits running - even even though they are different versions (5.20 - 5.39)
    - Using XMP profile and default settings. Up to x46
And other stuff I've tried to test stability

While the GPU is in I get a bunch of Issues.
    Issues such as:
    - Long POSTs - mainly 96 into b2 when it actually passes.
    - Visual tearing/graphic bug as windows load.
    - Visual tearing while watching youtube / twitch (Not only in the mmoving part - any random place on the screen)

If anyone have had problems like this... If you're using DisplayportCable it can "damage" your DP ports.
This is what solved it for me lol...
