after I pressed it the Asus window with "touchpad disabled" will pop up, but the touchpad is still not disabled. And if I press it again the same window will pop up with the same information. Help?

fn+f9 doesn't work for me either, I have to have asus smart gesture installed and running at boot to disable it. Inside is a section under mouse detection which you can enable to disable the touchpad when the mouse is plugged in.

I have NEVER ONCE been able to get Asus Smart Gesture to install onto my G75V

Yes, use Smart Gesture. It's the only way I can confidently turn mine off and be assured it will stay off on reboot (as long as the mouse is present).
