Clueless customers have already been misled into buying Intel's Optane. I guess Intel is trying to increase Optane's appeal to "leet" gamers? Not their fault if you choose to buy what they sell, even though your usage model likely doesn't fit one of the very few tiny specialized niches where Optane caching is actually superior to a far less costly M.2/NVMe SSD.

Anyone paying the price Intel set for this is a moron.
I'd like to deploy my troops in her country.

To be fair, while the price is high, the sheer power of performance in 4k random read/writes (the kind that most users will encounter in day to day activity) is 4-8 times faster than even the Samsung 960 Pro. For Seq Read/Write it is a little slower than the Pro but unless you are moving/rendering big files constantly, normal users won't notice the difference.

I can definitely tell an increase in snappiness and loading times over my 960 Pro.

I have debated whether to update or not recently myself. The reviews all discussed the wide price disparity, but Brighttail’s experience is telling. All depends on perspective and your wallet. 🙂

Honestly the difference between a 960 pro and the 900p wouldn't be enough for me to normally purchase the faster 900p. I did so because I wanted to run VROC and on a bootable drive, which I am doing. That being said, this drive is the best out there. Sites have all reviewed it and said it is the top beast, but is that extra performance worth the hefty price tag. Samsungs 960 is the same way. You can get other, cheaper drives with slightly less performance.

The low latency is what is interesting to me. Whether it’s worth the mark up is the question. Thanks for the input brighttail. Most helpful. 🙂
