Crosshair VII Hero and 2700x not booting

RookieOne

Got a non-wifi crosshair vii hero, and it's not booting when I use my 2700x cpu.

Boot fine with a 1600X that I had on my previous build.

Tried different ram config, Mobile is up to date on latest bios, and it still get stuck at Q-Code 06(microcode loading) with white VGA LED and yellow boot LED

Specs :

Ryzen 2700x
Crosshair VII Hero
4x8GB G.skill ram Trident z RGB For ryzen 2400
EVGA Nvidia GeForce Titan

Have you tried re-flashing the BIOS?
Will the 2700X boot on the motherboard of the previous build, assuming there is a bios update for that board supporting the ryzen+ CPUs?
PSU Good / Appropriate wattage?

I had a similar issue q code 8. Tried reflashing to all bios revisions, with the CPU in/out. Took all peripherals off including gfx and memory. Ended up RMAing and waited a few weeks for replacement stock. Working fine now.

The best flashing process is done on a bare board, so there is no interferrance. This means no CPU, GPU or memory installed.
Many state that to stop a corrupted revision update flash and then reset to defaults, and then flash it again.
The best way to reset to defaults is to remove the battery for 5 minutes.

It don't, PSU good and high enough wattage for it

Guess that don't give much more choice. Sent the RMA request to AMD for the proc, already got it accepted, will sent it to them later today

Yes, if it didn't boot in a different board doesn't look good for the CPU.
Good luck on your next one. Once you get past this setback and get your new CPU I think you will really like it and this board and soon forget the original hassles.

This is a fix for anyone who has POST issues with the Crosshair VII Hero. Make sure you have both the 4pin and 8pin cpu power cables connected. This will eliminate the q code 8 and you will POST immediately.

Also, for 3rd gen Ryzen Users. Please flash the latest BIOS before trying to boot new cpu's.
