Just to clarify, I did not mean you are somehow unworthy. The issue is that we probably can't help you because we lack the product specific knowledge. It would take all of the knowledgeable VIP users migrating here to really offer the same level of support. Furthermore, even if a bunch of VIP users gathered here to help each other there isn't a good way to organize themselves. All of the subforums are dedicated to specific ROG product lines so trying to post and find relevant information would be pretty difficult. Perhaps ASUS could expand this forum to accommodate but the shutdown felt rushed so I don't know if there was even a plan.

FYI, my latest communication from Asus as of 2 days ago...

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Care, my name is Lawson R. I hope you are having an awesome day. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a response as to why the VIP Forum was closed but I will keep trying until an answer is forthcoming.

Please make note of your case number for future reference: N180657816

    Regards,
    Lawson R.

No offense taken! I just wish there was an ASUS Router forum somewhere. I find it odd that ASUS would shut theirs down. Actually, more than odd -- distressing! Is ASUS abandoning their focus on routers as part of a general purpose networking infrastructure? Perhaps we are in a transition phase and ASUS will be (re)opening a router forum.

EDIT: I see that this board has a forum dedicated to ASUS routers {https://rog.asus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?301-ROG-Routers}, so perhaps things aren't as bad as I thought!

Whatsyourrouter.com has a dedicated forum for Asus routers (and others!)

You'll recognise some of the people there

Yes and it's owned by UK Sentinel !
Maybe he can replace asus-vip-forum as I think here we're lost with no ROG products and no gamers intention.

But doesn't help that all postings with many hints and usefull help are lost forever and now even worse it seems asus told google to delete their cache!!!
I could find many of my postings with google-cache, now they gone too ...

Well done asus, customers are degraded to cashcows!

I'm not from Asus, but here are some possibilities:
Maybe it was a corporate cost-cutting measure.
Maybe some forum users were complaining that Asus was ignoring them in the VIP forums.
Maybe people were complaining too much about Asus products in the VIP forums (I actually bought an Asus router because of the number of owners complaining about Linksys router firmware in the Linksys community/forums. Lol)

The Asus RT-AC88U is a gaming router.
How are the ROG routers different?
(I'm more of a Console gamer than a PC gamer)

    Yes, the ROG Routers subforum.

Ignoring ASUS/ROG marketing brags and examining some hard tech/dev specs for ROG RT-AC88U and ASUS RT-AC3100 (which I don't own and haven't torn down or compared side-by-side):

    Both have the same "AC3100" chipset implementation (BCM47094 and BCM4366 SoCs, 4x4 SE2623L and SKY85405 parts, 128MB NVRAM, 512MB DDR3-1600, etc).
The RT-AC88U has four more LAN ports (switched by a RTL8365MB).
The RT-AC88U appears (visually, on some online photos) to have more aggressive ROG styling.
The RT-AC88U appears (everywhere!) to have more aggressive ROG pricing.
The RT-AC88U apparently has more or bigger heatsinks ... although accurate info about this seems scarce online.
The RT-AC88U may have some parts factory overclocked by ASUS (or which support manual overclocks by end-users).
The two products are intended for different (but overlapping) markets so they may ship with different ASUS firmware/software features.
The consensus at many review/comparison sites is that the RT-AC88U is "faster" in general usage and in specific measures ... although their testing/benchmarking methodologies are not always meaningful, professional, consistent, or unbiased.
