What is the proper way to use External Sound Card?

I have a Asus Z270 Strix-G Motherboard setup and recently purchased a Soundblaster X-G5 usb Sound Card.

Curious if there is a specific way to use this in conjunction with the motherboard.

I keep on having to un-install and re-install drivers for this device because i keep on losing sound and the mic no longer works.

Is there another DAC/AMP out there that works better with AKG-7XX and Mod Mic 5.0?

I find that Windows will sometimes change the default audio device (in my case it changes to my monitor, which isn't connected to speakers) so before you re-install you might want to check the default device. Easiest way is to right click the speaker icon in the system tray and go to Playback Devices.
