Asus Rampage VI Extreme and Intel 905p u.2

Im public same post on Intel community forum also.

On currently R6E firmware version - 1301, this motherboard didn`t support 905p u.2. I dont know about 905p Add-In Card, but u.2 dodn`t recognized form BIOS on this motherboard.

Im tested on two Optane 905p disks.

All two disks, is perfectly recognized on other MB, as from Asus and also from other MB brands. And avaiable from bios boot menu right away.

On R6E im try:

1. Connect via U.2 to SFF 8643 from disk box.
2. Connect via u.2 to PCIE adapter
3. Connect via u.2 to m.2 adapter
In all 3 tests - disks not avaiable from R6E BIOS and also from win 10 intsallator.

Im contact to Intel and Ausus support, for resolve this problem. But currently - i do not recomend for purchase this Mb-Disk combo.
This is very sad situation TOP MB and TOP SSD from very famous brands, with so lot of marketing. And.... Didnt work.

Of course im check latest drivers and firmware!
Currently I managed to start one of the disks. But only via u.2 to PCIE adapter. u.2 connector didn`t not work!

now I am experiencing a very similar situation as in this thread:

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?100995-Rampage-Extreme-VI-Boot-Problem-Question

Absolutely similar situation.

If someone knоw workaround - i will be very gratefull.

So is the U2 connector unusable with the only drive that makes sense to use it with?

I was considering this option too since I don't want a PCI-E Intel drive but your results are really disappointing.

Yes, currently 905p not work with u.2 connector, also dont work via adapter to m.2. You can use this device only via adapter to PCIE. This is stupid situation.
One of the main advantages this formfactor (2.5" u.2), you can place this disk to other section of your case, and free PCIE port. But currently this is not possible.

Im not recomended this device for purchse, if you planing use R6E.

I do have the R6E and that was the plan.

Do you expect any reply from Asus regarding this?

Damn so many problems with Asus but don't know about other manufacturers either.

-Fan Expert & AI Suite Problems - Check
- Thunderbolt Problems - Check
- AURA Problems - Check
- U2 & Intel SSD Problems - Check
- Aquanti 10G Problems - I think so but can't confirm

What is it with everything these days.
