Hello, hope this is the right place to ask.

I'm just about to get a Strix X470-F and pair it with the new 3700X
Will this be a good match, or do you guys have any other recommendations?

Is there anyone with X470-F and 3700X here, if so what's your experience? how's the bios? how's the vrm temps etc etc..

    Thanks

If you need fast(er) BIOS updates - go for Crosshair VI/VII or just X570. E.g. X570 got the AGESA 1.0.0.3ABB update on 31 Jul, Crosshair Hero VI/VII - at least on 23 Aug, the rest still waits. By the way on 10 Sep AMD releases another BIOS that fixes a boost frequencies issue, I'm sure we will get it not earlier than in the end of October.

X470-F has no VRM temp sensor so nobody will tell you if it overheats or runs just fine, unless it will throttle (and again - who is gonna keep MSI Afterburner OSD on everytime and check if the CPU frequency drops in games? Or HWiNFO in the background and then check the min CPU frequency. Come on, people want to just use their PCs without checking anything, only a small amount of users likes to monitor stuff and change tons of settings). On the other hand, 3700X on default settings shouldn't be particularly power-consuming even under Linpack (which nobody runs unless they're testing CPU/RAM overclock).

And be ready for really bad RAM OC (it's 50/50 at best, for its price you should get much better odds). I have 2*8 3200CL14 kit and it can't even start when I set its frequency higher than 3333 MHz (Fast preset in 1usmus DRAM Calculator) or 3400 MHz (Safe preset), it can't reset the settings either so I need to CLEAR CMOS. I would go for Crosshair VI (if you find good price) or prepare your money for X570. If I could return this mobo to the seller I would do this with great pleasure, X470-Pro at least overclocks RAM well, X470-F is a piece of deadweight. And no, it's not Daisy Chain, so poor RAM overclock is not a surprise.

You can find all differences on other Asus board updates from 31.07. like Crosshair VII here but in rough:
    2.Update AM4 Combo PI 1.0.0.3 Patch ABB
    a.Fixes a compatibility issue with Destiny 2
b.Fixes an issue with certain Linux distros
c.Removes Gen 4 support when using Ryzen 3000 CPUs
3.Improves EZFlash performance to reduce boot time.

I haven't noticed any changes compared with 5204 using my 3900x. I still top out at 3733/1866 RAM/FCLK. Can't use anything higher than 100 BCLK. Max boost still limited to 4525 (4519 due to underclocked BCLK) on CCX0.

Well, we have to wait at least one month more to get the BIOS with boost fix on our X470-F ?
