Hardware Unboxed showed that the same cpu achieved different results based on the motherboard it was installed on. The issue is really not the cpu but mainly the motherboard implantation of the bios which is out of AMD's hands. ABBA is a waste.
Not completely true, except performance uplift, which is right and not that much.
However, regarding temps and voltage, it's definitely better!

I see fewer temperature spikes, less temperature overall, better idle behavior and responsiveness on load.

Definitely better regarding those things, which is better than less performance uplift

Actually, most benchmarks are slightly better with ABBA, nothing looks to be sacrified. If anything, single core was below par before. And I'm talking about Asus implementation, I'm running SMU 46.49 from ABBA on Crosshair VII and the full ABBA on Prime X470-Pro. Results are better on the Prime Pro, I expect the full ABBA for Crosshair VII to be a uplift. Whenever it arrives.

Only "bad" thing with Asus ABBA is power consumption is hard locked regardless of settings, 145W/95A for the 3900X. Only way to circumvent is to go full manual OC.

Yeah, I mainly need an ELI5 version of the tutorial but a real ELI5

So today I realized that I plugged my NVMe SSD at the "wrong" PCIe, not really wrong obviously but it was plug under the GPU, next to the chipset but no heater at all. So now I just put it above the GPU with the heater functioning. At first I selected the port below the GPU because it was easier for me to plug there.

OK, something new happening to me which is really frustrating me, and not even a bios change fixes it, I have literally left my pc all day while at work, on the desktop nothing running as idle as can be, and only my first 2 cores only ever downclock to under 1.0v, before they all used to go down to around 0.750v helping with idle temps too. I have tried all 4 of the different power options, min state 5% etc, I have changed c states from auto to enable, had bios at all stock and default, underclocked, normal and overclocked, nothing is making them all idle under 1.0v like they should, why?

I've had this issue for ages, 1903 seemes to have changed the behavior.

What I did to fix it is change when the power management setting I am on decides to throttle up and down. You can do this via powershell.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ormance-tuning

These are the settings I used:

    Powercfg.exe -setacvalueindex scheme_current sub_processor PERFINCPOL 2
    Powercfg.exe -setacvalueindex scheme_current sub_processor PERFDECPOL 1
    Powercfg.exe -setacvalueindex scheme_current sub_processor PERFINCTHRESHOLD 70
    Powercfg.exe -setacvalueindex scheme_current sub_processor PERFDECTHRESHOLD 50
    Powercfg.exe /setactive scheme_current

    Jesus the bug fiesta
Btw i believe you have some problem in your windows installation i personally already did 3 fresh install from i swich to zen2 .... its not normal you have to use powershell to fix this thing :P
So start looking if your memory make error if so your windows its possible corrupted and start doing **** like this
Also uninstall and reinstall amd chipset driver
Can also reflash bios in that case reflash then uninstall and reinstall chipset driver
Otherwise the dear old Format C: its your friend
This time its a ****ing mess whit zen 2 ...

Was thinking ... can we compile a list of problem that need to be solved whit this bios ?
    Something like
    Spread Spectrum
Bus clock stuck to 99.8 whitout possibility to increase causing frequency stuck to max base setting
    PBO not working at all
    Auto overclock ( 25 / 75 / 100 etc ) also not working
Fixing or eliminate menu whit double voice like the one next to CBS menù
Fan max temp 75c on bios ( over this value they move to 100% )

You can add or tell me if for you this function work and after that we can maby send this to someone on asus ?
