I read somewhere that the yellowish tint had something to do with a design flaw in the backlight assembly. Changing to another brand was the ultimate solution to my PG279Q issues.

May I ask what other brand you went to? I'm curios if it was another monitor manufacturer that also uses AUO panels or someone who used other panels (LG or Samsung).

My son is enjoying now after I upgraded to a PG348Q which aso has no problems unless I sit in a pitch black room staring at a black screen cranking the brightness to max but I dont sit in a pitch black room staring at a black screen with the brightness cranked, iits caibrated with an Xrite colormunki and presents an awesome display with perfect colors.

I got the ViewSonic XG2703-GS. The unit that I got did not have the white uniformity issues that the PG279Q had. It also had much less BLB because the thicker bezels seem to put less clamping pressure on the edges of the LCD panel.

Thanks. So it's also an AUO panel.

Meanwhile, I've got a second Acer XB271HU and it's practically perfect - almost no uniformity issues (nothing compared to ASUS), zero bleed, significantly less IPS glow so... AUO do seem to be able to make really good panels, but ASUS' QC must be worse than Acer's and ViewSonic's.

It also had much less BLB because the thicker bezels seem to put less clamping pressure on the edges of the LCD panel.
That's not always true, though. Two of the ASUS screens I had were bleeding out of the top-right corner and the panel was actually loose in this corner so when I put MORE pressure on it, the bleed would disappear. AFAIK, it's a matter of balance - you can indeed put too much pressure and it bleeds, but you can also put too little and it may bleed because of that.

Either way, I'm glad you found a good one, my search is also over, I'm keeping the Acer, maybe even both or three - I'm considering a 3-monitor setup now that now I can get consistently better panels from Acer.

Welcome to Asus quality control, 1 of the worst in the industry when it comes to monitors.

I went through 8 x PG278Q's, 5 x PG279Q's and 2 x PG348Q's, From what I've gathered so far Asus buy b-grade panels from the panel manufacturers, Put their own shell on it and charge a fortune, It's the only explanation I can come to having had so many faulty Asus ROG monitors myself, I've also got a few 1440P Dell monitors in work and they are all flawless and cost way less than the Asus ROG monitors.

I gave Asus 15 chances with their high end ROG monitors, Never again, Luckily my current PG348Q is perfect but I am not willing to gamble getting another high end ROG monitor in a year or 2, My money will go to Dell.

I am thinking of buying the XB271HU as Acer and AU Optronics are one, do you think it is good ?

I've heard good things but you'd have to do more research before committing.

    Hi all.
Three months ago I decided to switch from 1920x1200 10 years old TN Samsung model T260HD(still working fine) to C34F791.
First one had dust under matrix.Changed to the same.Second monitor had exactly the same issue-dust under matrix, almost at the same place, but higher.Ordered third one. There was one dead pixel.I thought this time no one will change my monitor because of one dead pixel. But later I noticed horizontal stripes from centre to bottom from left to right.Asked to give my money back.I got my money back and ordered PG348Q.It cost me for 270 Euro more than Samsung monitors.Hoping, will get perfect one, since they are still produced.
